Almost anything youâd want to do with PowerBar can be done without using the mouse (except for drag and drop:-). To enable keyboard navigation of the toolbar, press the key that toggles this mode on and off (the default is the ` key which is up there next to the â1â key (not the keypad mind you, but the row above the letters). You should see the first button on the upper left of the toolbar become outlined. You can then move this âcursorâ using the arrow keys. When you have reached the desired button, pressing the return or enter keys causes it to become âclickedâ. Keyboard access is automatically turned off when you invoke an action. The next time you turn it on, the âcursorâ will be on the item last selected.
You may change the key used to toggle keyboard access using the General Preferences dialog accessed from the control panel. In this dialog is a button named âKeyboard Controlsâ. Clicking this button brings up the Keyboard Controls dialog which allows you to change the toggle key but also the various command key equivalents for the PowerBar menu options.
